Abstract

531,737. Closures for collapsable tubes. STEATIT VERKAUFSGES. AKT.-GES. July 31, 1939, No. 22212. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1938. [Class 125 (iii)] A cap b is screwed on the neck a<SP>1</SP> of a collapsable tube a and a valve c is seated in the top of the cap while a valve d, to open inwardly, is seated at the bottom of the neck a<SP>1</SP>. The valves are on a common stem e and a spring h, tending to keep the valve c closed, is arranged between a cross bar f and a shoulder on the stem e. When the cap is partly unscrewed both valves are closed, but when the cap is screwed home as shown in Fig. 2, the additional valve d is open. As pressure is applied to the tube the contents pass into the neck a<SP>1</SP> and lift the valve c from its seat and both valves remain partly open to permit discharge. With release of the pressure from the tube a the spring h closes the valve c. Ribs i at the lower end of the valve stem slide in grooves in the inner surface of the tube neck, and act as guides during movement of the valves.
