Abstract
465,894. Tufted fabric looms. WOODWARD, GROSVENOR, & CO., Ltd., and SMITH, F. Nov. 19, 1935, No. 31991. [Class 142 (ii)] The main comb 2 of angle section for turning up the tufts is fixed to a bar 1 slidably carrying a pile yarn guiding comb 5 operated by spaced cams, eccentrics or cranks 10 on a shaft 8 rocked by cam-controlled lever mechanism, whereby the comb is moved up and down on the bar 1 which is slotted to receive pins on the comb 5. The comb element as a whole is moved bodily forwards and backwards and up and down by means shown. In the position shown in Fig. 7, the comb teeth 17 guide the pile yarns on to the main comb teeth 18. The comb element is then moved upwardly and the comb 5 downwardly relatively thereto as shown in Fig. 8, the comb 2 entering between the warp threads and turning up the tufts. The shaft 8 may have a stop member co-operating with a stationary pin on the bar 1. In a modification described, the main comb is moved on the guide comb. The combs may be independently moved.
