[Class 142 (i).] The serrated bar 5, which is movable in the upper U-shaped heald stave 3 and stops the loom when its movement is blocked owing to warp breakage and consequent falling of a heald, is operated directly by a normally stationary vertical stop surface 7 on a bearing 8 on a lever 15 which is pivoted on a slider 10 and is normally raised by a spring 14. A cam slot on a part 17 connected to the lay engages a pin 21 on the slider thereby moving this to the right when the lay beats up, so that at the time when the heald frame is lowered and the tensioned warp threads raise the healds therein the surface 7 is moved to the right and normally moves the bar 5 to the right. If this movement is prevented, the lever 15 is rocked actuating a Bowden wire 24, which raises a lever 29 pivoted at 25 to the starting handle, the lever 29, which is retained by a pawl 28, being thereupon engaged by a part on the lay and actuated to stop the loom.
