Abstract
374,890. Warp stop-motions for looms. MIYATA, R., 1, Nishi - 5 - Chome, Ichinomachi, Sakai, Osaka-Fu, Japan. March 12, 1931, No. 7675. [Class 142 (i).] Detector healds are provided with end-pieces 3, Fig. 7, to accommodate a non-circular oscillatory rod 6, the locking of which serves to position a member between a camoperated hammer on the lay and the starting handle and stop the loom. The heald frames are mounted for vertical movement in fixed guides 7 at the lower end of which a cam is provided for rocking the bars from inclined to vertical position as the healds descend. In the construction shown in Figs. 4 and 7, wherein two heald wires are provided for each warp thread, two transverse bars 6, connected together by means of levers 11, 13, 15, are rocked to vertical position by the engagement of the lever 11 with a rocking member 31 which is raised by a cam 21 and is returned to dotted line position in Fig. 4 under the influence of a weight 14 on the lever 13. The return movement of the rocking member 31 normally removes a finger, which is connected to the starting handle, from the path of an oscillating hammer, but, if a bar is engaged by a detector heald as a result of warp breakage, the member 31 remains in the full line position shown in Fig. 4 and the loom is stopped. Fig. 11 shows a modified construction in which the bars 6 are moved to vertical position as the frame descends by means of a cam 43 which engages and rocks a bell-crank lever 40 against the action of a spring 41. If a bar is locked by a fallen heald wire, the bell-crank lever 40 is held in position to engage, on the upward stroke of the heald frame 1, with a collar 45 on a rod 33, the upward movement of the latter operating the stopping mechanism. In a further modification, a cam 43, Fig. 14, engages a cam member 64 provided on one of two transverse bars 6a, 6b, interconnected by pinions, the resultant rocking movement turning the bars to vertical position and rocking a spring-controlled pawl member 63 to horizontal position. If, as a result of thread breakage, one of the bars is engaged by a detector wire, the horizontally disposed pawl 63 engages a collar 45, on the upward stroke of the heald frame, and operates the rod 33 to stop the loom.
