Abstract

Printing; cellulose esters or ethers, dyeing; dye preparations.--Cellulose ester or ether textile material is printed with an azo dyestuff containing the group--Alk.SOxH attached to a benzene nucleus through nitrogen or oxygen, wherein Alk=alkylene and x=3 or 4 (cf. Specifications 200,873, 237,739, [both in Class 15 (ii)], 429,936, 430,079, 431,564, 435,807, 441,072, 441,089, 441,884, and 457,787) with the use, as assistant, of a water-soluble salt of an acid of the general formula <FORM:0465136/IV/1> wherein B represents a sulphonated benzene nucleus which may be further substituted by halogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R1 represents H, alkyl or aralkyl and R2 alkyl or aralkyl. In examples, (1) a cellulose acetate textile material is printed with an aqueous paste containing the dyestuff, o-chloro-p-nitraniline --> ethyl-sulphatoethylaniline, sodium dibenzylsulphanilate and gum senegal, and the printed material is dried, steamed for \ba1/2\be hour at 100 DEG C. and washed; (2) the dyestuff in (1) is replaced by p-nitraniline --> ethylsulphatoethylaniline or N-ethylphenyltaurine and the assistant by sodium ethyl-benzylaniline-m-sulphonate.
