Abstract
Cellulose esters or ethers, dyeing; printing.-Acetate silk or material made of or containing cellulose esters or ethers is printed with a sulphonic acid of an a -aminoanthraquinone and steamed. In an example the goods are printed a pure blue colour with an aqueous preparation containing gum arabic or British gum thickening and a paste of the sodium salt of the sulphonic acid of 1-methylamino-4-benzylaminoanthraquinone (c.f Specification 282,853, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], obtained by fine grinding in an aqueous dispersing medium such as sulphite cellulose liquor, and the goods so printed are dried, steamed and washed. Other specified colouring matters are the 1-(41-acetylamino) phenylamino-4-amino-3-sulphonic acid, 1-phenylamino - 4 - amino - 3 - sulphonic acid, 1 : 5-diamino-4 : 8-dioxy-3-sulphonic acid, 1 : 5-dimethylamino-4 : 8-dioxy - 3 - sulphonic acid, 1-(41-methyl-31-sulpho)-phenylamino-4-methylamino-, 1-(41-methyl-31-sulpho) phenyl-4-amino - 3 - methyl-, 1 : 4-(41 : 411-dimethyl-31 : 311-disulpho) diphenyl-amino-, 1-amino-4-oxy-5-sulphonic acid, and 1-amino-5-sulphonic acid derivatives of anthra quinone. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of aminoanthraquinonesulphonic acids in general. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. 1-(41-Methyl-31 - sulpho) phenylamino - 4 - methyl-aminoanthraquinone is obtained by sulphonation of the condensation product from 1-bromo-4-methylaminoanthraquinone and p-toluidine. 1-(41-Methyl-31-sulpho) phenylamino-4-amino-3-methylanthraquinone is obtained by sulphonation of the condensation product from 1-bromo-3-methyl-4-aminoanthraquinone and p-toluidine. 1-Amino-4-oxyanthraquinone-5-sulphonic acid is obtained by treating 1-nitroanthraquinone-8-sulphonic acid with methyl alcoholic potash to obtain 1-methoxyanthraquinone-8-sulphonic acid, nitrating this compound, saponifying the methoxy group and reducing the nitro group.
