Abstract
Cellulose esters or ethers, dyeing; printing.--Discharge pastes, particularly suitable for use on materials made of or containing cellulose esters or ethers contain a formaldehydesulphoxylate discharging agent, zinc thiocyanate and diethylene glycol. In an example zinc thiocyanate and diethylene glycol are added to a solution of sodium formaldehydesulphoxylate in aqueous gum tragacanth. The following examples of the production of discharge effects are given. (1) A cellulose acetate fabric, dyed in the usual manner with Ionamine A diazotized on the fibre and developed with 2 : 3--hydroxy-naphthoic acid, is printed with the above discharge paste-dried, aged at 100 DEG C., washed at 60 DEG C. and dried to obtain pure white discharge effects. (2) A cellulose acetate fabric, dyed with Cellitazol ST diazotized on the fibre and developed with 2 : 3--hydroxynaphthoic acid, is printed and further treated as in (1) to obtain similar discharge effects. (3) A cellulose acetate material, dyed with Cibacete diazo black B diazotized on the fibre and developed with 2 : 3--hydroxynaphthoic acid, is printed and further treated as in (1) to obtain slightly yellowish discharge effects. (4) A cellulose acetate material, dyed with Cellitazol AZ diazotized on the fibre and developed with 2 : 3--hydroxynaphthoic acid, is printed with an aqueous discharge paste containing British gum, gum tragacanth, sodium formaldehydesulphoxylate, diethylene glycol, zinc thiocyanate, sodium hydroxide and Ponsol brilliant green G and the printed fabric is aged at 100 DEG C., washed at 60 DEG C. and dried to obtain a brilliant green print on a black ground. Specifications 262,254 and 285,973, [both in Class 15 (ii), Dyeing, Processes &c. for], are referred to.
