Abstract

Cellulose esters or ethers, dyeing; naphthalene, dyes derived from.--Cellulose esters or ethers are dyed or printed with a suspension of the product of the reaction, under mild conditions of a primary aromatic amine, particularly a paraaminophenol-ether, with the intermediate product obtained in the production of naphthazarine from 1 : 5-dinitro-naphthalene. Vivid blue to green-blue dyeings, fast to the usual influences, and easily dischargeable are obtained. The manufacture of the dyestuffs is as described in Specification 20997/99, [Class 2]. In examples, acetate artificial silk is dyed by treatment for \ba1/2\be to 1 hour in an aqueous dispersion at 60--70 DEG C. of dyestuffs produced by condensing the naphthazarine intermediate product with paraphenetidine in (1) glacial acetic acid and (2) 80 per cent acetic acid containing sodium acetate.
