Abstract

318,176. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 29, 1928, [Convention date]. Dye preparations.-Esters of organic hydroxy acids are incorporated in vat dyestuff pastes and printing colours in insufficient quantity to dissolve the dyestuff, whereby the intensity of the prints are improved. In examples, glycollic acid ethyl ester is mixed with 2 : 1-naphthoxythiophene-2 : 3-(5<1> : 7<1>-dichlor)-indolindigo and with Indanthrene dark blue BO, and the mixtures, after concentration by evaporation made into printing colours by the addition of glycerine, sodium benzylsulphanilate potassium carbonate, wheat starch, tragacanth thickening and sodium formaldehydesulphoxylate. The following esters of hydroxy aromatic acids are also mentioned : Ethyl lactate, ethyl acid tartrate, diethyltartrate and the corresponding esters derived from homologous alcohols and from polyhydric alcohols, Specifications 301,567 and 314,396, [both in Class 15 (ii), Dyeing, Processes &c. for], are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the addition of esters of organic hydroxy acids to any dyestuff paste or printing colour. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
