Abstract
387,297. Printing silk. DURAND & HUGUENIN AKT.-GES., 40, Fabrikstrasse, Basle, Switzerland. Oct. 19, 1932, No. 29245. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1931. [Class 15 (ii).] In printing silk with chrome dyestuffs with the aid of gum thickening and a chrome mordant there are incorporated in the printing paste a soluble sulphocyanide, an aliphatic di- or polyhydric alcohol or a substitution product thereof, and a compound of the urea group such as urea, thiourea, or guanidine. Specified sulphocyanides are those of ammonium, potassium, sodium and calcium and specified di- or polyhydric alcohols and their derivatives are glycerol, glycol, monoethylglycol, diethyleneglycol, thiodiethyleneglycol, diethyleneglycol mono- and di-ethvl ethers and commercial acetin. Examples (1) to (6) relate to the preparation and use of aqueous pastes containing gum thickening, chromium acetate, ammonium sulphocyanide, glycerol, urea, and one of the following dyestuffs : (1) Chromocitronine R, (2) Chromocitronine 3R, (3) the disazo dyestuff 1 : 4-phenylenediamine-2-sulphonic acid <#># salicylic acid (cf. Specification 255,086, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.]), (4) the trisazo dyestuff obtained by alkaline oxidation of the dyestuff 4 - amino - 2 - sulphoben'zene - azo - salicylic acid (cf. Specification 349,609), (5) Chromorhodine B, (6) Chromazurine D. Examples (7) to (10) relate to the preparation and use of aqueous pastes containing gum thickening, chromium acetate, ammonium sulphocyanide, glycerol, urea, formic or acetic acid and one of the following dyestuffs : (7) Chromacetine blue S, (8) Modern blue, (9) Modern violet, (10) Modern heliotrope. In each case the printed silk is dried, steamed for 1 hr. under light steam pressure (0À2-0À3 atm.), rinsed in cold water and finally washed in lukewarm water.
