Abstract

463,800. Steam turbines. TENNANT, W. J. (Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin) Oct. 7, 1935, No. 27626. [Class 110 (iii)] In radial-flow turbines in which additional masses are arranged on the ring bonds 8, 9 carrying the blades 7 in order to counteract the centrifugal forces set up in the blades, the additional masses consist wholly or partly of axial-flow blade rims 13 mounted on the ring bonds. Fig. 3 shows a rim 13 on one bond 9 only, the other bond 8 having balancing masses 17, but each bond may carry a rim 13, and the blades of this rim may be shorter than the other blades of the axial-flow system of which they form a part. A similar turbine is described and claimed in Specification 463,799.
