Abstract

463,120. Knitting-machines; unwinding yarns. EMERY, F. J. Sept. 28, 1935, No. 26865. [Class 74 (ii)] [Also in Group IX] A support for cones, cheeses, and like yarn packages comprises a diaphragm, membrane, or the like 13 adapted to be distended on application of a cone &c. 20 and to exert resilient pressure against the underside of the cone during unwinding. As shown, the membrane 13 consists of interlock knitted fabric mounted on a drum 10 by means of a clamping ring 17 and pierced with a central aperture 14 to admit the tube 21 and a cone positioning spigot 18, the fabric being stiffened around the edge of the hole by means of a cardboard or other ring 15. The positioning member may be a solid or hollow pin or a ring adapted to encircle the tube or base of the yarn package. U.S.A. Specification 1,984,571 is referred to.
