Abstract
462,745. Fluid - pressure brakes. WEIHE, (nÚe. LOBINGER), H. June 12, 1935, No. 16968. Void. Convention date, June 12, 1934. [Class 103 (i)] In a hydraulic hand-brake in which a piston 14 in a pressure-producing cylinder 1 is moved by a screw-threaded spindle 19, the pressure in the pipes 7 leading to the brake-cylinders is maintained by means of a spring 21 which also transmits the motion of the spindle to the piston. One end of the spring, which is close coiled and normally is nearly solid, engages the closed end of the piston 14, whilst the other end of the spring is seated in a cup 22 bearing on the spindle 19 operated by a knob 20. A spindle 23 attached to the piston 14 passes through the spindle 19 and normally projects beyond the surface of the knob 20. When the pressure in the pipe system falls below normal, for example on account of loss of liquid or change of temperature, the spring 21 expands to restore the pressure deficiency in the pipe 7, whilst the inward movement of the spindle 23 provides a visible indication of the changed condition of the pressure-producing system.
