[Class 122 (i)] A piston, e.g. for actuating a brake or clutch lever, comprises a member 7 having a diameter smaller than that of its cylinder, a packing ring 10 and a follower plate 12 having, for example, a spherical periphery adapted to maintain a line contact with the cylinder wall within the limits of rocking movement of the piston. The packing ring may comprise a cup of rubber composition having wire cloth embedded in the surface thereof.
