Abstract

462,459. Aerials; valve circuits. HONEYBALL, L. L.-K. July 4, 1935, No. 19096. [Class 40 (v)] A loop aerial comprises a plurality of tapering hollow conductors. As shown in Fig. 1, the aerial comprises tapered conductors 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b arranged to form a loop and mounted on a support 4 and box B with strengthening lugs g. The conductors 2a, 2b and 1a, 1b form inductances which are associated with the grid and anode respectively of a valve 6 to form an oscillator as shown in Fig. 3, the lower ends of the conductors 1b, 2b being connected through a tuning condenser ct. A condenser cv is connected at the upper end of the loop to permit rough adjustment of the wavelength and to give control of the oscillation of the circuit. The oscillator unit thus formed may be supplied with modulating potentials for transmission and with quenching oscillations for reception, the modulator and low frequency receiver being arranged separate from the aerial unit.
