Abstract
461,846. Centrifugal separators. VULLIERME, M. March 24, 1936, No. 8775. Convention date, March 25, 1935. [Class 23] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXIII] A liquid used in an aircraft motor, for cooling or lubricating, is passed through passages in the propeller, for the centrifugal separation of impurities from it. The liquid passes through a pipe 1 in the propeller shaft, and then through one or more bores 4 through the length of the propeller. The return flow passes through tubes 5 inside the bores 4, to the tube 2<a> in the propeller shaft. The impurities are deposited in a space 9 normally closed by a frusto-conical plug 8 kept in position by a screw. The return tubes 5 have a number of spring blade valves 14 normally closing openings 10 in the pipes. If the supply pressure of the liquid is excessive the springs deflect and allow liquid to pass from the bores 4 to the interior of the pipes 5 without travelling to the space 9.
