Abstract

The tubular portion of a shot gun cartridge is moulded from a substantially non-inflammable waterproof plastic material and its mouth is sealed by a waterproof plastic closure, either by moulding or bonding the said closure integrally with the tubular portion, or by joining the closure to the tubular portion by an auxiliary waterproof adhesive. Suitable thermoplastic materials are those containing cellulose ethers or esters such as cellulose acetate together with one or more plasticizers such as triphenyl phosphate, tricresyl phosphate, diamyl tartrate, and diethyl phthalate, and a filler such as French chalk. Preferred compositions are described in Specification 457,294.
