Abstract

A heart catheter, made of synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride, is formed by extruding or spraying over a wire and smooth internal and external surfaces are achieved by the addition of a suitable plasticiser. A metallic connecting piece is inserted in one end of the tube and the other end is left open instead of being sealed except for a lateral orifice. The front end of the tube is preferably graduated to allow the depth of insertion to be observed.
