Abstract

A composition comprises (a) cellulose acetate, (b) a phthalate ester, (c) a sulphonamide, and (d) a triester of orthophosphoric acid in the proportions of 100 parts by weight of (a) to from 50 to 150 parts of the sum of the constituents (b), (c) and (d). The cellulose acetate may have an acetyl content of 52.5 to 56.0% by weight, calculated as acetic acid. (b) may be dimethoxy ethyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate or diethyl phthalate. (c) may be ortho- or paratoluenesulphonamide, or a mixture of these or a substituted toluenesulphonamide. (d) may be triphenyl-, tricresyl-, or trichloroethyl phosphate. The mixture may contain, in addition to the constituents (a) to (d) a minor proportion of a synthetic thermoplastic resin compatible with cellulose acetate or both. The composition may be used as an adhesive for bonding a fabric to polymeric foam sheeting (see Division B5).
