Abstract

460,095. Friction clutches. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and GREEN, T. F. July 20, 1935, No. 20682. [Class 80 (ii)] A friction clutch comprises a driven plate 14 flexibly coupled to its hub and arranged between a main driving member, not shown, and a spring-pressed presser plate 17, the latter having secured thereto pins 18 which are slidably guided in oil-retaining bushes 20 fitted in metal sleeves 19 fixed in a pressed cover plate 13 secured to the driving member. The pins 18 serve for driving the plate 17 and also extend through the apertured or bifurcated outer ends of withdrawal levers 22, which ends are rounded to coact with washers 24 held on the pins by nuts 25. The levers are channel-section pressings and fulcrum on the rounded ends of lugs 28 pressed out from the cover 13, the width of the lugs being such that they engage the channel flanges of the levers. The out-turned inner ends 26 of the levers co-operate with the end face of a control sleeve 27. The levers of each opposite pair are parallel and are at right-angles to the diameter of the sleeve 27 with which they contact, being arranged to trail. Anti-rattle U-shaped springs 31 are fitted.
