987,086. Friction clutches. K. HAUSSERMANN and H. HAUSSERMANN, [trading as LAMELLENUND KUPPLUNGSBAU AUGUST HAUSSERMANN]. March 13, 1962 [March 16, 1961], No. 9516/62. Heading F2C. A motor-vehicle friction disc clutch is engaged by two or more face to face spring discs 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, fulcrumed at an intermediate radius between axial flanges 8, 9, bolted at 13 directly to an engine-flywheel 1, and acting at their outer edges on a pressure plate 7 in which they are retained by a circlip, the disc springs being held flat in a transverse plane for engagement and moved into a conical position (Fig. 2, not shown) for disengagement, by the usual throwout bearing 14. The adjacent sliding faces of the disc springs are coated with a bearing layer of molybdenum disulphide, or have a layer of bearing metal interposed therebetween, and the inner tongue ends of the springs engage in staggered openings in a cage 15 of the throw-out bearing.
