Abstract
1,027,977. Ratchet clutches. K. HACK. June 1, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 22566/64. Heading F2C. To reduce wear on sprags 1 of a one-way clutch, wear-resistant sliding shoes 5 are provided on at least one end of the sprags. As shown, shoes 5 are arranged at both ends of the sprags 1 for frictional engagement with the inner driving shaft 6 and outer driven shaft 7. The shoes 5 may be stamped from sheet metal and arranged in a cage or, alternatively, hinged to the sprags 1 which, additionally, may be biased into engagement by an annular spring. In Fig. 2, not shown, the shoes on the driving shaft 6 are omitted, the inner ends of the sprags being located in U-shaped recesses formed in the driving shaft.
