Abstract

1432739 Friction clutches FICHTEL & SACHS AG 11 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 10745/74 Heading F2C A diaphragm spring clutch comprises circumferentially spaced wear resistant elements 4 interposed between the diaphragm spring 3 and presser plate 1 and/or between the diaphragm spring 3 and clutch cover 2. As shown hardened balls 4 are interposed between the diaphragm spring 3 and presser plate 1. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) pins 5 carried by the presser plate have convex ends engaged with the diaphragm spring 3. The diaphragm spring 3 may have recesses (7) in which the pins 5 engage, the radius of the recess being greater than that of the end of the pin. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the diaphragm spring pivots between a ring of circumferentially spaced pins carried by the cover 2 and a fulcrum ring 6. The spaces between the balls 4 or pins 5 facilitates the circulation of cooling air.
