Abstract

1,250,355. Friction clutches. G. K. N. BIRFIELD TRANSMISSION Ltd. 16 Jan., 1970 [21 Nov., 1968], No. 55203/68. Heading F2C. In a diaphragm-spring clutch in which the spring 14 is fulcrumed between the cover 19 and a support plate 17 riveted to the cover, the support plate is formed with louvres 23 pressed from the plate to induce cooling air flow through the clutch. Again, wire rings may be arranged on the lip 16 of the plate 17, and on the rib 18 for spring fulcrums. The inner ends of the spring fingers may have the wear resistant buttons of Specification 1,245,984.
