Abstract

[Class 36] To prevent short circuiting of the conductors of a coaxial conductor air insulated cable of the kind having the outer conductor constituted by a plurality of interlocking flexible metal strips, due to particles of metal being detached from the edges of the strips during bending &c. of the cable, a thin tube of insulation is provided between the conductors in addition to the usual insulating means for spacing the conductors. The thin insulating layer may be applied immediately over or under the inner or outer conductors respectively and may be in the form of an extruded tube or a longitudinally or helically wrapped strip.
