458,750. Television. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.- (Assignees of Iams, H. ; 209, Prospect Street, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.) May 24, 1935, No. 15171. Convention date, May 26, 1934. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Part only of an electric image, obtained on a mosaic screen 12 from a projected optical image, is transmitted by varying the area scanned by a cathode-ray 20. The amplitudes of the scanning-voltages produced by sawtooth blocking oscillators 26, 30 are varied by adjusting the anode voltages by potentiometers 58, 54, which are operated by a common control 62. The control also operates potentiometers 82, 90, which vary respectively the intensity of the cathode beam in proportion to and the size of the beam inversely to, the size of the area scanned. The position of the area scanned is adjusted by controlling the direct current in auxiliary deflecting-coils 22a, 24a by potentiometers 72, 76.
