457,363. Prepayment mechanism for meters. WILSON GASMETERS, Ltd., G., Foleshill Road, Coventry, POOLE, D. C. E., The Elms, Baginton, near Coventry, and ORMEROD, G. A., 24, Ash Tree Avenue, Coventry. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2505. [Class 27] Coin action, multiple-coin with delivery proportionate to value of coin.-In a prepayment meter for optional use with two different coins, and having a pair of quantity wheels connected through a differential gear, arranged eccentrically therewith, with a quantity mechanism, the said differential gear is disposed within the casing of the coin-pocket mechanism. As shown, penny and shilling quantity wheels 11 and 13 are fast and loose respectively on a shaft 12 journalled in the rear of the casing 15 of the coin-pocket mechanism, the shaft 12 being formed with pinion teeth 17 meshing with a gear 18 fast with one sun-wheel 24 of the differential gear eccentrically disposed within the casing 15. The shillings wheel 13 carries a gear 23 meshing with a pinion 22 fast with the other sun-wheel 24 of the differential gear. The differential gear is constructed in the manner described in Specification 457,364, [Group XXIV], its planet shaft 19 being connected through a gear pair 26 and worm gearing 27 with the quantity mechanism. In a modified construction, the sun-wheels of the differential gear have peripheral teeth, one sun-wheel being connected through an idler pinion with the pinion teeth 17 of the shaft 12, and the other being secured to the shaft 19. The planet carrier is provided with a pair of intermeshing pinions engaging the two sun-wheels and is fast with a gear meshing with the pinion 23.
