[Class 27] Coin action, multiple-coin with delivery proportionate tc value of coin.-In a prepayment meter adapted for optional use with two coins, e.g. pennies and shillings, two quantity wheels 1, 2 are provided and are independently actuated by the coin pocket mechanism according to the coin used. The pennies quantity wheel 2 is secured to a central shaft 7 carrying a sun pinion 8 of an epicyclic gear, and the shillings quantity wheel 1 is secured to a coaxial sleeve 9 carrying the planet carrier 10 of the epicyclic gear. Rotation of the pennies wheel 2 is transmitted to a driven sun-wheel 19 of the epicyclic gear at a reduced ratio through the pinion 8 and planet-wheels 11, 12, the planet carrier 10 remaining stationary. Rotation of the shillings wheel 1 causes rotation of the planet wheel 12 about the sun-pinion 8 which remains stationary, a proportionately larger rotation being imparted to the driven sunwheel 19. The sun-wheel 19 is constituted by periphery teeth on a crown sun-wheel 18 of the quantity mechanism. Spring washers 22, 23, and 24 ensure the independent operation of the quantity wheels : alternatively, ratchet and pawl mechanism may be provided for this purpose. The coin pocket mechanism may be constructed in the manner described in Specification 449,622.
