636,160. Prepayment mechanism for meters. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., HEWLETT, S. J., and HOWARD, E. April 5, 1948, No. 9515. [Class 27] Price-changing mechanism. A pricechange gear for a prepayment meter comprises a crown wheel a driven by the coin mechanism and furnished with concentric rings of gear teeth alternatively engageable by a pinion b which transmits the drive to the quantity mechanism through a long pinion d, gears e, f and removable change wheels h, i whereby a wide price range can be obtained without the necessity for a second pinion b and a summating differential as described in Specification 634,524. The change wheels h, i are disposed at the front of the mechanism adjacent a knob c which traverses the pinion b in the manner described in Specification 634,524. Specifications 552,937 and 584,550 also are referred to.
