Abstract

660,796. Counting apparatus. SMITH METERS, Ltd., and ANGOLD, H. E. April 5, 1949 [May 27, 1948], No. 14386/48. Class 106 (i). A numeral drum for a consumption meter indicator, or other counter, comprises a cupshaped body 1 with a fitting 7 at its open end bearing an isolated pair of teeth 10 for driving a transfer pinion, the body rim having an aperture at 6 in register with the tooth space in the fitting 7. The fitting 7 may be a diametral bar, or of spider formation, but is shown as a disc with a conical boss 12 to space the adjacent drum. It has the teeth 10 formed in the end of an offset tongue 8 and is secured to the base 5 of the body by distance rivets 15 which also secure the driving wheel 4 to the base. The centre part 3 of the base is off-set to give clearance to the toothed periphery of the driving wheel. The parts may be pressings in aluminium or alloy, or made by die-casting or moulding.
