Abstract
457,360. Automatic regulation; selfcontained supply systems; charging batteries. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Nov. 1, 1935, No. 30263. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1934. [Class 38 (iv)] Variable-speed generators, with.-Relates to a reactance regulated constant current alternating current power supply system for charging a vehicle battery through a rectifier. A variable speed inductor alternator 2 supplies the battery 6 through a rectifying valve 15 and transformer 16, a socket 20 being in circuit so that when the generator is not running the system can be connected to an A.C. house supply for battery charging. The reactance of the A.C. winding 13 is made sufficiently large to effect regulation, the range of regulation being increased by means of a condenser 4 coupled with the circuit. Specification 304,768, [Class 38 (iv)], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the modification shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled) in which a battery 6 is supplied through rectifiers 5 from a variable speed alternator 2, regulation being effected by series connected inductance 3 and capacity 4, the resonance peak across the condenser being limited by a resistance 7. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
