Abstract
457,054. Angular bending. HAYWARD, T. A., Possil Engine Works, Glasgow. July 12, 1935, No. 19925. [Class 83 (iv)] In a pipe bending machine a sweep arm forms an initial bend and subsequently forms an offset abutment for further bending. The pipe 3 is fed between guides 12, 13. The guide 13 is then moved axially by hydraulic means to swing a sweep arm 2 and to slide a lever 1 through a pivoted bearing 7. A cam face 16 on the lever 1 engages an abutment 17 causing it to rock about a pivot 8 to effect the initial bend. The member 2 is then in position for subsequent bending as the tube is fed axially. The member 2 may be replaced by a roller.
