Abstract

363,807. Doffing arrangements for reciprocating sliver-cans. LOW & CO., Ltd., J. F. and HARGROVE, J., Monifieth Foundry, Monifieth, Angus. Dec. 11, 1930, No. 37335. [Class 120 (iii).] A sliver-can doffing mechanism comprises a reciprocating carriage 4 adapted to accommodate two cans 3, 3<1>, Fig. 1, and a stop device 6 having a fixed mounting and located normally clear of the cans but movable into position to obstruct the can 31 for one stroke of the carriage 4 in the direction A, whereby to displace the full can 3 and to move the can 31 towards the filling position. The stop device 6 comprises a pair of rollers journalled on a pin 7, Fig. 2, and operable manually by a lever 11, or automatically after delivery of a predetermined length of silver 1 by means controlled from the delivery-roller of the carding-engine 2. The stop 6 is movable into its operative position only when the carriage 4 is at the left-hand end of its travel. When the carriage 4 reaches the right-hand end of its travel a further movement of the handle 11 in the direction B will move the can 3 completely off the carriage 4 and the can 3<1> to the filling position.
