Abstract
724,658. Angular bending. MINGORI, R. P. Jan. 21, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 1829/53. Class 83 (4). Apparatus for cold bending pipes includes a lower cheek plate 5 having a series of holes 8 along its length, lateral abutments 13 positioned along said plate, a central former 4 and means 1 (e.g. a hydraulic jack) for pressing the former against a pipe 14 to be bent at a position between the lateral abutments, and an upper cheek plate 21 disposed with its longitudinal axis parallel to that of the lower plate 5 and having a series of holes 22 along its length, said upper plate 21 being slidable longitudinally in guide means 19 which are pivoted, at 16, to the former pressing means 1 so as to allow the said plate 21 to be lowered onto the lateral abutments 13 to secure them, in conjunction with the lower plate 5, in appropriate holes in these plates. Marks 11 are formed on the plate 5 to identify the holes 8 therein. The upper plate 21 may be formed with stops at each end to prevent it leaving the guide 19.
