Abstract

456,930. Sifting - apparatus. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., HAY, S., and GIFFORD, F. T., Horseferry Road, Westminster. Aug. 29, 1935, No. 24125. [Class 117] Apparatus for screening coal, coke rock chippings, &c., comprises two or more chains 2, Fig. 1, driven by sprocket wheels 3, and trained over guide pulleys 4 and supporting between them transverse bars 7 each of which has a number of fingers 8 extending, preferably on both sides, parallel to the chains. The material to be screened is fed on to the upper run of the device from a hopper 6 and a shoot disposed thereunder discharges the fines while the oversize material passes off at the end, the leading end of the fingers 8 being upturned as shown at 9, Fig. 4, to throw the screened material clear of the preceding fingers. The chains travel on stationary guides 12 during the upper run and fixed spindles 13 carry rollers 14 spaced to lie in the spaces between the fingers 8 act on the cross-bars 7 to impart rocking movement thereto.
