Abstract

510,361. Endless-chain conveyers. TRAUT, R. Feb. 2, 1938, No.3286. Convention date, April 12, 1937. Addition to 510,235. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups III and V] In apparatus for carrying out the method of lining tubes with bitumen as claimed in the parent Specification in which a cooling and rolling bed is provided having endless chains carrying discs for supporting and rotating the tubes, the discs or their hubs are caused to roll along endless flexible elements which move in the opposite direction to that of the chains. As shown, the tubes a are supported upon carrier discs b, the hubs c of which are connected together by the links of endless chains d. The chains d are driven by wheels f and pass over idle wheels g. The hubs c are engaged by the upper sections of a second set of endless chains h which slide along rails m and are driven by wheels k in the opposite direction to the chains d. The chains h may be replaced by bands of steel, strips of rubber or ropes. In a modification, the chains or the like h engage the discs b instead of the hubs c.
