Abstract
361,460. Endless chain conveyers; cooling coke &c. WHITE, A. E., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (International Bitumenoil Corporation ; 75, West Street, New York, U.S.A.) Sept. 6, 1930, No. 26695. [Class 78 (i).] A conveyer, particularly for removing and cooling coke discharged from a low temperature distillation coal retort, which comprises a screen 26 and a lower floor 21, is formed with apertures 23 through which air passes to circulate between the screen and floor and through the material. Each plate of the floor is connected by inverted L-members 20 to links 19 of a chain provided with rollers 18. The apertures 23 are formed in sideplates 22 which extend upwardly from the floor plates and have secured between them the screen members 26. The shafts of the driving roller 28 and the idler roller 27 are journalled in bearing blocks 29, the positions of which are adjusted by screws 30 mounted in inverted U-shaped members 31. When the lumps of coke resting on the screen 26 reach the driving roller, they fall in such a manner as to rest upon the underside of the screen, and are subjected to further cooling action during the return run. In a modification each plate 51, Fig. 4, of the screen has an extension 52 which causes the discharge of the coke at the end of the upper run.
