Abstract

469,787. Endless band conveyers. HOVIS, Ltd., and DUNFORD, A. June 12, 1936, No. 16482. [Class 78 (i)] In an en masse conveyer of the type comprising readily detachable rectangular interlocking chain links, with integral sides, some of the links 13 have lateral projections 17 on one or both sides, the projections being in the form of flat blades lying in the plane of the links and each of a width in the direction of travel of the conveyer not less than one half the length of its link. Each link 13 has at one end a hook 14 which passes through a groove 16 in one or both of the sides of the next link to take over the adjacent cross-member of the said link. The chain runs over sprocket wheels one of which is mounted in journals retracted by springs to tension the chain. At least one of the runs of the chains travels over a supporting platform which may have a gap down which the material is discharged, a vertically adjustable brush being located alongside the gap.
