Abstract
456,889. Frictional pocket igniters. KAUFMANN, A., 57, Pernerstorfergasse, Vienna. July 23, 1936, No. 20430. Convention date, July 23, 1935. [Class 75 (iii)] Lateral air-inlet slots 3 in the windshield 2 are inclined at an angle greater than 30‹ and less than 90‹ to the axis of the lighter and louvres 4, pressed outwardly and downwardly in the production of the slots, direct the incoming air upwardly and away from the friction wheel so that the flame is lengthened and pulled away from the wheel. Additional air inlet openings 7 may be provided in the casing at or below the level of the wick, the incoming air being deflected along the curved portion 8 of the fuel container 5 and further lengthening the flame. The windshield may be pivoted about the friction-wheel axle 1 as shown, or be integral with the casing, and perforated at the end.
