455,680. Electromagnetic interrupters. SLEGERS, A. J. H. G., Tellin, Belgium. Dec. 3, 1935, No. 33470. [Class 38 (v)] An electromagnetic interrupter for controlling the supply of current to electromagnetically - oscillated bells has a sector bolted to a forked lever mounted freely on a shaft the sector rotating in a casing 8 which is rigidly attached another lever, said levers being provided with contacts which are adapted to be brought into engagement during the braking of the sector, the contact being interrupted by a spring as soon as the braking effect on the sector ceases. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the shaft a which is connected to the bell carries on a squared extension an arm d carrying on a laterallyextending insulating arm contacts c<3>, c<4>. Freely mounted on the shaft a is a forked lever v on one arm of which is a laterally-extending insulating arm 12 bearing co-operating contacts c. Between the two contact bearing arms is a spring r<3>, normally holding them apart. Attached to the lover v is a sector s adapted during the movement of the bell to move between spring-pressed braking members p, p<1>. Thus when the bell is oscillating in the direction of the arrow 1 the contacts are maintained out of engagement during the whole stroke but on reverse movement in the direction of the arrow 2, immediately the braking action on the sector s commences the contacts engage and move together until the braking action ceases and the spring r<3> again forces them apart. Thus the circuit to the operating electromagnet is completed during a portion of this stroke so that the bell is maintained in oscillation. The casing containing the interrupter may be filled with oil above the contacts to prevent sparking therebetween. Leads to the interrupter contacts pass through the hollow end 2 of the shaft to terminals on insulating members 15, these terminals being then connected directly to the interrupter contacts.
