Abstract
455,250. Electric water heaters. KONINKLIJKE FABRIEK INVENTUM NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP, Bilthoven, Holland. Aug. 19, 1935, No. 23305. Convention date, March 4. Addition to 386,221. [Class 39 (iii)] In hot-water apparatus comprising a closed hot-water tank 2 with an air vent or overflow tube 6 heated indirectly by water in an inner vessel 3 containing a heater 4 and closed at the bottom and open at the top which has an air lock 11 with a pipe 5 by which air can escape until the water reaches a predetermined level beneath the top at which it is automatically maintained, a water lock 10 is provided at the top so that water supplied thereto enters the inner vessel until no air can escape through the air vent 5 but will not enter when the vent is closed; water being supplied to the water lock when level in the tank is low. The water inlet pipe 7 may have an external valve and be extended at 12 to deliver direct to the water lock 10. The height of the inner vessel 3 is much less than that of the tank, but is enough to submerge the electric heater 4 and thermostat 9. Hot water is delivered at 8 and cold water may be fed in from a tank 1. A water gauge 14 may be provided to indicate the minimum level to which the tank should be kept filled.
