Abstract

498,977. Electric water heaters. KONINKLIJKE FABRIEK INVENTUM N. V. April 7, 1938, No. 10693. Convention date, April 13, 1937. [Class 39 (iii)] Hot water apparatus for connection to a pressure conduit comprises a hot water tank without an air vent, in which an inner vessel 7 containing an electric heater 8 is arranged, the vessel being closed at the top by a cap 12 in which a space 11 forms an air lock communicating by a tube 10 with the inner vessel, the cap having slits or apertures 14 near the bottom, so that on filling the tank by a pipe 4, water under pressure flows into the inner vessel and compresses air therein, some of the air escaping each time pressure is released at the water outflow tube 5, until finally enough air remains in the cap 12 to form an air lock.
