[Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XVIII] The supply switch of a prepayment electricity meter also serves as an overload circuitbreaker, being provided with a thermostatic device adapted to effect, wholly mechanically, tripping of the switch when the current in the circuit becomes excessive. A construction is described which is identical with that of Specification 455,090, except that the electromagnet 12 is replaced by a bimetallic strip provided with a heating element connected in the supply circuit, the bimetallic strip bending over and displacing an upstanding part secured to the latch arm 11 to release the switch in the event of an overload. Specifications 369,959 and 374,057 are referred to.
