Abstract
453,000. Transformers; inductances. LEGG, B. J., 13, Lewis Street, and MILLER, W. S., 88, Richmond Road, both in Wolverhampton. May 16, 1935, Nos. 14290 and 22758. [Class 38 (ii)] A transformer or inductance comprises a core having three or more limbs on one or more of which is mounted a coil or coils the core being mounted in a casing consisting of two equal parts each provided with slanting projections which serve as clamping means for the core plates. The core is made in two separable parts such that a spool carrying the windings may be placed in position on one part and the other part may then be placed in position to complete the magnetic circuit. The core may be built up from two patterns of laminations, (Figs. 5 and 6) assembled alternately, or entirely from laminations as shown in Fig. 7. The lower laminations in each case are wedged in position in the lower half B of a divided casing. The windings C are then placed over the centre core limb and the upper laminations are then placed in position and held by the upper half A of the casing. The latter is of moulded insulating material and has sloping sides which co-operate with wooden wedge blocks H spaced apart by rods J in clamping the core laminations. Terminals f and leads associated with the windings are held in recesses formed in the meeting edges of the casing halves.
