Abstract

Salts of cyclic nitrogenous bases with w-methanesulphonic acids of pyrazolone-amines are prepared by interaction of the sulphonic acid with the base or with a salt thereof of a weak acid. The methanesulphonic acids, which are described in Specification 452,363, may be used as such or may be formed in situ. The products possess therapeutic properties. The examples describe the interaction of (1) quinine with 1 - phenyl - 2 3 - dimethyl - 4 - methylamino - 5 - pyrazolone - 4 - methanesulphonic acid in alcoholic or aqueous solution; the same product is formed when sulphur dioxide is passed into an alcoholic solution of 1-phenyl-2 : 3-dimethyl - 4 - methylamino - 5 - pyrazolone, aqueous formaldehyde and quinine; (2) morphine with 1 - phenyl - 2 : 3 - dimethyl - 4 - methylamino - 5 - pyrazolone - 4 - methanesulphonic acid in water; (3) quinine with 1 - cyclohexyl - 2 3 - dimethyl - 4 - methylamino - 5 - pyrazolone - 4 - methanesulphonic acid in acetone and ether, and with 1-phenyl-2 : 3 - dimethyl - 4 - cyclohexenylamino - 5 - pyrazolone - 4 - methanesulphonic acid in alcohol and acetone; (4) the acid carbonate of 3 : 6 - diamino - 10 - methylacridinium hydroxide, prepared by treating the corresponding acridinium chloride with sodium bicarbonate, with 1 - phenyl - 2 : 3 - dimethyl - 4 - methylamino - 5 - pyrazolone - 4 - methanesulphonic acid in alcohol. The products are recovered by crystallization or evaporation of the solvent.
