[Classes 94 (i) and 94 (ii)] In a wrapping-machine, the web of wrapping-material is passed through grooved and ridged rollers for bending one edge up and the other down. These edges are flattened upon the web, and a wrapper is secured and applied to an article so that the folded edges are interlinked and flattened. As shown, a web e of paper is fed between two sets of rollers c, d<1> and c<1>, d of which the rollers c<1>, d<1> have angular edges, and the rollers c, d corresponding grooves. The edges g, h of the web are bent downwards and upwards respectively, and a further folding device turns them into the positions shown in Fig. 4. A length is severed from the web, and the resulting wrapper is positioned below the article v to be wrapped. The article is held between upper and lower plungers n, o, Fig. 6, which are then in a raised position. The plungers descend and carry the article into a holder t, turning up the sides about the article. The plunger n rises to the position shown in Fig. 6, so that a catch u thereon engages the turned over edge h and partially unfolds it. A slide q moves to the left, turns down the left-hand side of the wrapper and partially unfolds the edge g, Fig. 6. A slide r, with an upturned edge engages the right-hand side of the wrapper and turns it into the position shown, with the edge h over the edge g. The slides r, s are brought together, and interfold the edges, Fig. 7, after which the holder t moves to the right for further treatment and the fold is flattened by the underside of the slide r.
