Abstract

<PICT:0452287/III/1> Plant for making soap in bar form comprises a container 4, provided with a pair of rotary cooled drums 7 which feed a layer of cooled soap through the nip into a chamber C and through the discharge 17. The walls of the container 4 may be insulated, steam-jacketed, or heated electrically. Baffles may be provided to direct the flow, including a baffle 22 between the inlet 5 and the nip. The drums 7 may be cooled by a forced water-circulation system including a tank filled with a cooling coil in which brine is circulated. As shown, the extrusion chamber C is formed by a nozzle 15, 16 mounted adjustably in an opening 6 of the container 4 and bearing on the drums. The nozzle may be fitted with scrapers, and adjustable heating or cooling means, and the inner walls may be highly polished. The discharge 17 may be divided by partitions, and die-plates may be provided for producing bars of various shapes and sizes. The upper drum 7 may be only partly immersed in the liquid soap.
