Abstract
<PICT:0460834/III/1> A crystallizer contains a central well 2 up which a screw propeller 4 causes solution to pass, the return flow to complete the circulation taking place down the outside of the well, and the cooled surfaces of the apparatus terminate at a distance from the bottom so as to provide a zone to receive the crystals 9 when formed and collect them outside the range of action of the agitator. The container 1 and well 2 may have jackets 3 and 10 for cooling fluid. Cooling pipes may be positioned between container 1 and well 2 and in this case the jacket 10 may be omitted. Cooling jackets may also be arranged in the well 2, and positioned coaxially thereto.
