465,833. Cooling liquids. MUNDAY, R. L. Dec. 17, 1935, No. 34943. [Class 29] A heat-exchanger for heating or cooling cream, chocolate, or similar semi-plastic materials, or milk and beer, consists of two or more rotors A, A<1> each with helical grooves and projections of opposite hands, the projecting portions of each rotor engaging the grooves of the other rotor, and means for rotating the rotors in unison so that material passes between them, together with a double casing D fitting over the rotors, the cavity F between the casings containing brine or other cooling or heating medium, which also passes through the rotors. Electric heaters may heat or replace the heating medium. Material is fed in at the top and withdrawn at the bottom. The rotors are driven in unison by gear wheels H, H<1> on hollow spindles B, B<1> with holes K by which brine enters the rotors and passes circuitously through apertures J therein to outlet holes K<1> in the spindles whence it passes into the casing at M and is finally withdrawn at G. The casing may be taken apart for cleaning and may be made of metal known under the Registered Trade Mark " Monel."
