452,081. Sliding - clasp fastenings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION, 31, Ames Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Clark, E. ; 53, Derby Road, Beeston, Nottingham) Jan. 6, 1936, No. 476. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1935. [Class 44] In a sliding-clasp fastener with completely separable stringers the male end - fastener member 14 has on its side faces laterally projecting hooks 18 which have fastening engagement with co-operating means on the female end-fastener member 15. The male member 14 is of sheet metal doubled over the stringer tape and slit so that portions may be bent up to provide the hooks 18. The female member 15 comprises riveted front and back plates 20 on the stringer tape the plates being stepped to provide the recess for the male member and having L-shaped lug extensions 23 which fasteningly engage the hooks 18 when the male member has been inserted into the female member by a rocking movement with the hooks 18 moving into the throat 24 lying between the lug extensions 23 and the outwardly flared curved lower portions 25. The female member is maintained by a stop 17 at its bottom edge and at its top edge abuts on the lowest fastener element 11 of the stringer tape.
